Lets say you have a XML node list of timestamps or numbers and you want to display things like the oldest date, newest date, lowest number, largest number. Using XSL Style Sheets you can do this.

I store phone numbers in the database as 10 digit numbers. My PHP framework pulls a phone number from the database and attaches it to XML using Domi. Then I have the XSL style sheet format the phone number for me using a xsl:template.

While creating a XSL style sheet I needed a select in my form that had the numbers 1-100. I needed a way to get this done without writing 100 options lines. My solution was to write an XSL function, otherwise knows as a template.
